Laser Vision Correction, also known as LASIK, promises a new freedom for the majority of those who wear glasses or contact lenses. There is nothing quite like being able to see clearly without the aid of glasses or contacts after being dependent for so long. But the benefits don’t end with that initial “wow” factor. There are real financial and work benefits, as well as those for an improved lifestyle – whether hard at play, or sleeping late.
Financial
Save money. The cost of new eyeglass lenses and frames or contacts and contact lens solution is substantial, totaling at least several thousand dollars over the course of your adult life. With QualSight, your low-cost LASIK procedure will likely pay for itself several times over in the coming years.
Save time. Earn back 60 hours each year by eliminating the need for wetting, soaking, and maintaining contacts.
Work
Get more done. With clearer vision and freedom from cumbersome glasses, eye irritation due to contacts, and a limited field of vision, you may experience higher work productivity after LASIK.
Expand career opportunities. Gain access to new positions and job advancement in careers that require excellent vision including law enforcement, firefighting, airline piloting and the building trades.
Lifestyle
Sleep later. Eliminate the hassle of tending to contact lenses, eyeglasses and other eye care paraphernalia. It’s just one less thing to do in the morning. And when you do wake up, you’ll be able to see what time it is without reaching for your glasses!
Gain confidence. Let your natural looks take center stage without the interference of eyeglass lens and frames. And don’t be surprised to find yourself standing a little taller, stepping forward to introduce yourself more often and generally feeling better about yourself as you’re able to navigate the world with perfect, unaided vision.
Be spontaneous. Accept that invitation to spend the night, or take an unexpected swim without worrying about having a spare set of glasses or your contact case and solution on hand.
Play
Up your game. Sports like skiing, snowboarding, golf, tennis, football, baseball and even skydiving are all greatly improved by not having to wear contacts or glasses. Now, you can see the pin from the tee, take that black diamond ski slope at full speed, and know your serve was “in” with the confidence of perfect vision and freedom from foggy glasses or dried out lenses.
Open your eyes under water. You’ll get to know the freedom of seeing clearly while swimming, scuba diving, diving and waterskiing without worrying about losing a lens.
Eyes in the back of your head. With an expanded field of vision, no one will take you by surprise, whether running a competitive 5K or heading for the end zone.
How Safe is LASIK?
Dr. Joseph Dello Russo announced the results of a study that indicates for the first time that LASIK is safer than contact lenses. According to a study published in the Archives of Ophthalmology, October 2006 edition, researchers have confirmed that LASIK surgery as performed this year is safer than contact lens use. Sight threatening infections from contact lens use occur in 1 in 2,000 contact lens wearers, whereas the study confirms that only one in 10,000 patients risk significant vision loss due to complications from LASIK, making LASIK the safest elective procedure being performed today.
